1. The course will give you an understanding of the principles of industry established methods to calculate the reduce level excavation requirement. How to apply these methods from drawn information to allow the taking-off of quantities. And from the take-off to preparation of the bill of quantities production.
2. Provided is a pdf drawing for the example paper together with an excel file showing the method for the taking-off and bill of quantities.
3. Three pdf drawings are provided for the assignment paper together with an excel file showing the method for the taking-off and bill of quantities.
4. Also included with the course material is a word.doc showing the measurement procedures on the dimension sheet and the BCIS (Building Cost Information Service) format for the bill of quantity elements.

1. Read and become familiar with section D20 of SMM7 and the Code of Measurement.
2. Work through the example paper referring to the drawn information and D20 of SMM7.
3. Attempt the assignment paper with out referring to the model answer.
4. When completed the assignment check your paper against the model answer. If necessary, refer to the documents to ensure you fully understand the paper.
5. Finally answer the test paper and email to kenhubble@hotmail.com for assessment.
6. After completing the module and received a pass mark in the test paper the learner will receive a Certificate.
