    2. Measurement procedure. Word.doc

    3. A blank excel workbook is included in the materials provided for taking-off and producing the bill of quantities.

    4. Example taking-off and bill of quantities, excel workbook.

    5. Assignment paper.

    6. Assignment model answer: taking-off and bill of quantities, excel workbook.

    7. Test paper.

  • 1. The course will give you an understanding of the SMM7 section D20 earthworks, E10 concrete requirement. E60 Precast / Composite concrete Decking, J40 Flexible Sheet Tanking / damp proofing, M10 Cement:Sand / Concrete Screeds / Toppings and P10 Sundry Insulation. How to apply these methods from drawn information to allow the taking-off of quantities. And from the take-off to preparation of the bill of quantities production.

    2. Provided is a pdf drawing for the example paper together with an excel file showing the method for the taking-off and bill of quantities.

    3. Three pdf drawings are provided for the assignment paper together with an excel file showing the method for the taking-off and bill of quantities.

    4. Also included with the course material is a word.doc showing the measurement procedures on the dimension sheet and the BCIS (Building Cost Information Service) format for the bill of quantity elements.

    5. A blank excel workbook is included in the materials provided for the taking-off and producing the bill of quantities.

  • 1. Read and become familiar with section D20, E10, E60, J40, M10 and P10 of SMM7 and the Code of Measurement.

    2. Work through the example paper referring to the drawn information and D20, E10, E60, J40, M10 and P10 of SMM7.

    3. Attempt the assignment paper without referring to the model answer.

    4. When completed the assignment check your paper against the model answer. If necessary, refer to the documents to ensure you fully understand the paper.

    6. After completing the module and received a pass mark in the test paper the learner will receive a Certificate.

  • 1. The course will give you a deeper understanding of the principles of the SMM7 section D20 earthworks, E10 concrete requirement, E60 Precast Concrete composite items, J40 Tanking and Damp Proofing, M10 Screed Toppings and P10 Insulation. How to apply these methods from drawn information to allow the taking-off of quantities. And from the take-off to preparation of the bill of quantities production.

    2. Why it is important to check scale of drawings, particularly horizontal and vertical before starting entering measurements.

    3. Gained knowledge of the calculation requirements at the start of the take-off.

    4. You will have gained an understanding and how to measure and produce a bill of quantities for the BCIS section 1A.

    5. Completing this Module will strengthen your resume and highlight your commitment to professional development.
